The Acuvue Oasys Multifocal with Pupil Optimised Design will be available in the UK from July
Johnson & Johnson Vision has confirmed that its new contact lens product for patients with presbyopia, the Acuvue Oasys Multifocal with Pupil Optimised Design, will be available in the UK from July.

Introduced earlier this year, the two-week reusable multifocal contact lens uses the same Pupil Optimised Design technology as the 1-Day Acuvue Moist Multifocal.

Jakob Sveen, managing director Northern Europe and general manager UK/Ireland at Johnson & Johnson Vision, suggested: “Our Acuvue Oasys Multifocal contact lens brings a long-awaited solution to reusable contact lens patients with presbyopia who have been looking for continuous, clear and comfortable vision at all distances.”

“We are excited to be launching the lens to eye care professionals and their patients in the UK and Ireland,” he added.

As well as the Pupil Optimised Design, the lens also features hybrid back curve technology and a proprietary embedded wetting agent, which the company suggest ensures a lens “designed for performance and comfort.”

The Acuvue Multifocal portfolio of lenses share the same power range and fit process across both modalities. Eye care practitioners can also use the Acuvue Fitting Calculator to find trial lens powers for patients.

The company will be hosting two events around the new lens, including a launch event, An Eye for Innovation, which will be held on 6 July from 6.30–7.40pm, hosted by TV journalist, Pete Meikle, and consultant ophthalmologist, Damian Lake.
Johnson & Johnson Vision have created a mailing list for An Eye for Innovation for those interested in attending the event. Practitioners should email [email protected] with their name, email address and mobile to register.
This will be followed by a live panel discussion on 15 July from 6.30–7.30pm, The changing Landscape for Patients with Presbyopia which will feature experts from the UK, Italy and the US discussing presbyopia and the new lens.
