Euclid introduces overnight contact lenses for myopia – Healio

Euclid Systems Corp. has released the Max orthokeratology lens, designed to reshape patients’ corneas during overnight wear for the temporary reduction of myopia.
“Building on Euclid’s proprietary lens designs, Euclid Max features an innovative material with hyper Dk of 180, the highest of any U.S. overnight ortho-K brand, without the compromise of lens stability,” Euclid Systems CEO Joseph Boorady said in a company press release. “This is especially important with young healthy eyes in a closed eye environment.”
Some U.S. optometrists received the FDA-approved Euclid Max, made of tisilfocon A, as part of an early access program “to get real-world clinical experience on patients’ eyes,” according to the release.
The company instructed participants to fit as many patients as possible with the lenses during the trial and to provide feedback on the lenses’ performance.
“Euclid Max provides incredible oxygen permeability, lens stability and wettability, which adds a layer of comfort, safety and satisfaction in my ortho-K practice,” early access participant David Kading, OD, FAAO, of Specialty Eyecare Group, said in the release.
The lenses improve on-eye vision, resist warpage and scratches, and may reduce risk of infection, according to the company. The high Dk value of the lens allows for better oxygen transmissibility during use. There were no reported adverse effects.
Euclid Max is now available in the U.S.
